Habitual Offender

Habitual Offender

Habitual Offender is a status conferred on a driver by the Department of Motor Vehicles.  If, during any five year period, a person incurs a certain number of a certain type of moving violations, that person can be deemed an Habitual Offender.  This classification subjects you to a severe mandatory license loss, up to four years.  And the penalty for driving while an Habitual Offender can be equally severe:  a minimum, mandatory 12 months incarceration.  Avoiding being made an Habitual Offender in the first place is the best approach, if possible.  A skilled attorney experienced in these matters is your best hope of avoiding these life-altering consequences
