Eaton "Tony" W. Tarbell, Jr.

I have been practicing law in New Hampshire since 1971. I hold a J.D. degree and an M.B.A. with a major in accounting from Cornell University and have worked in the tax division in New York City for a big 8 accounting firm before starting my practice of law. Although I have experience in other areas of the law such as real estate, public utilities and tax abatements, my practice has been concentrated in family law matters for the past several years. It perhaps should be noted that I have acquired over the years a substantial amount of income producing real estate and thus I am very familiar with all aspects of buying, selling, managing, financing, and leasing real estate. Therefore, I can spot many of the hidden aspects of real estate ownership that other attorneys might overlook. I am fortunate enough to have an outstanding management team that oversees the day-to-day operations of my real estate so that I can focus my full attention on my law practice.

Family law requires patience, understanding and compassion of and for my clients throughout the divorce process. Divorce is a highly emotional event in someone’s life and I need to be available and accessible to my clients when they need me. Sometimes their need for legal advice comes after business hours or over the weekend. I am fortunate enough to have a paralegal (who is very knowledgeable with over 25 years of experience) who is available for client calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will contact me if necessary. By having her available to my clients at all times, I can provide the legal assistance to a client any time and that is rare to find with many other family law attorneys.

I believe that as attorneys we have a duty to be diligent in negotiating a fair settlement that is satisfactory to our clients but at a reasonable cost. I also believe that in some cases no amount of reasonableness works, and the need to become aggressive on behalf of our clients and proceed to full trial is necessary.
